Lo for as Jam neare nothing has yet been built or manufactured that will do this; machinery needs to be oiled, floors to be washed and buildings cleaned and repaired, and a drainage system however well designed and carried out is no the rule.

Refarring. to the two houses, 17 Pottinger Sweet and 30 Chinese ofteret closed by Order of the Permanent Committee of the Sanitary Beard on the 11th June last Jam desirous of bring informed when the Government intend to compensate me for the losses. I have sustained and am still sustaining in consequence of such houses having brou closed.

I was called upon to pay and did pa the Auks for these two houses for the 2nd quarter after the kuants had been soicked by the Fermanent Committe with arrears of rent unpaid.

lead His Excellency and the Government seriously to cousiber for the future the wisdom of giving powers to individuals who are in no way responsible. for the consequences of their acts and who arrogate to themselves powers they never possessed.

As Guuer of Chinese houses I have felt the position of having powers of such a board over me endeavouring to control the tenants and myself in a manner both illegal and dangerous and if such pourrs are still to continue to such a Board it will become unbearables to own property here and Owurrs will be compelled to free themselves of the position.

When I became an Owure I knew I had to hold it under certeren responsibilities but had I known that afterwards powers would be given to men who had no training in Sanitary matters or how to dral with them I would not hous placed myself in such a position to be annoyed and worried by them!
